Kenyatta International Conference Centre
The Kenyatta International Convention Center (KICC) is located in the heart of Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, Africa, and is the most magnificent building in the city. From its top floor, one can enjoy a panoramic view of the entire city. This center has hosted numerous world and regional international conferences.Known as a symbol of Nairobi, the KICC is a circular tower-shaped building that serves as the venue for many large exhibitions. It was also the main venue for the Third World Conference on Women. Today, it is also the headquarters of the ruling party in Kenya.
Construction of the Kenyatta International Convention Center began in 1967. It was put into use in the early 1970s. The entire building spans 32 floors, covering an area of 410,000 square feet (135,000 square meters). Inside, there is a spacious circular theater with exhibition space of 40,000 square meters, and below there are 180 underground parking spaces. In 1989, the then Kenyan government handed over the Kenyatta International Convention Center to the ruling party KANU, which has been headquartered there ever since.
