Western China International Expo City

As the permanent venue for the Western China International Expo (hereinafter referred to as "West Expo City"), the West Expo City is a flagship project determined by the provincial party committee and provincial government, and a major driving project for the construction of Tianfu New Area. The groundbreaking ceremony for the project was held in September 2012, with Wu Bangguo, then Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, naming the project. The West Expo City, along with adjacent three-dimensional transportation, hotels, office buildings, commercial facilities, and other supporting service facilities, will be comprehensively planned and constructed simultaneously, forming a complete set of supporting facilities, an integrated industrial city, and a business-friendly, industry-friendly, and livable exhibition function area. The "Sichuan Tianfu International Exhibition and Convention Co., Ltd.", jointly established by the province and Chengdu, is responsible for the management and operation of the West Expo City International Exhibition and Display Center.

The first phase of the West Expo City's International Exhibition and Display Center was completed and accepted in August 2016, with a total exhibition area of 305,000 square meters (of which, indoor 205,000 square meters, outdoor 100,000 square meters). Since its official opening in June 2017, it has successfully hosted the 18th and 19th Chengdu International Furniture Industry Exposition, the 98th China National Alcoholic Drinks and Food Fair, the second Western China Import and Export Expo, the fifth Sichuan Agricultural Expo, the first Tianfu Financial Expo, the 74th Education Equipment Exhibition, and other large-scale exhibitions, undertaking 45 exhibition projects with an exhibition area exceeding 1.5 million square meters.

With the completion and use of the International Exhibition and Display Center of the West Expo City, the total exhibition area of Chengdu exhibition venues has risen to the first in central and western China, providing better venues for our province to host high-specification, large-scale exhibition activities.

The second phase of the West Expo City project includes a conference center, hotel, exhibition business center, etc., with a total construction area of approximately 228,000 square meters. The project started construction in January 2017 and is scheduled to be put into use at the end of 2019. The completion of the second phase project will greatly improve the exhibition functions of the West Expo City and enhance its ability to undertake international and domestic large-scale exhibition activities. My bureau will fulfill its duties and responsibilities, coordinate the promotion and management of the construction and operation of the second phase of the project.
