The Suzhou International Expo Center was established in May 2003 and officially opened in 2004. In 2012, to promote the unified and comprehensive development of the Eastern Integrated Business District, the Suzhou International Expo Center merged operationally with the Suzhou Culture and Arts Center, giving rise to the Suzhou Cultural Expo Center.
Located on the northern side of the Jinji Lake Cultural Waterfront in Suzhou Industrial Park, the Suzhou International Expo Center covers a site area of 188,600 square meters, with a total planned building area of 255,000 square meters. The project is being developed in two phases. Phase I has been completed, with a gross floor area of 185,000 square meters, including 70,000 square meters of exhibition halls, 9,500 square meters of conference facilities, and an outdoor plaza spanning 35,000 square meters.
The expo center currently features eight indoor exhibition halls with a total display area of 70,000 square meters, along with an outdoor plaza measuring 140,000 square meters and exhibition hall heights of 12 meters. The first-floor exhibition halls have a clear height of 10 meters, a load-bearing capacity of 5 tons per square meter, and column spans of 18 by 27 meters; the second-floor exhibition halls offer a clear height of 12 meters, a load-bearing capacity of 1.5 tons per square meter, and are designed as column-free, continuous spaces. The outdoor plaza encompasses a total area of 138,000 square meters, comprising a lakeside plaza of 103,000 square meters, a central plaza of 35,000 square meters, and parking for 1,500 vehicles.
