Ping An International Financial Center
The Shenzhen Ping An International Financial Center was designed by the U.S.-based architectural firm KPF. With 118 floors above ground and 5 below, it features a core‑tube structural system standing 555.6 meters tall, for a total height of 599.1 meters. Upon its completion in April 2016, it became the tallest building in South China, the fifth tallest skyscraper globally, and the second tallest in China.
The main structure employs a lateral‑force-resisting system comprising “mega-columns–core tube–outriggers,” incorporating eight massive steel‑concrete columns, each with a load-bearing capacity exceeding 70,000 tons. Utilizing Beidou high‑precision positioning technology, construction tolerances at an elevation of 600 meters were maintained within just 2 millimeters. Additionally, two 500‑ton tuned mass dampers are installed on the 114th floor. The complex boasts a total floor area of 459,000 square meters, encompassing Grade‑A office space, a commercial podium, and a 116‑story sky‑view observation deck, which includes an open‑air glass viewing platform.
As of 2026, the Shenzhen Ping An International Financial Centerremains China’s second tallest building, Guangdong’s tallest, and Shenzhen’s tallest.
