Gallium nitride (GaN) based semiconductors and Micro-LED chips, which have attracted great attentions from academic and industrial communities. It is due to their applications in large area high resolution TV display, wearable consumer electronics, automotive display, VR/AR virtual enhanced display and so on. At present, Micro-LED display technology still faces some main scientific and technical problems, such as the accuracy of mass transfer process, the lack of efficient red-light sources and the efficiency droop of LED chips so on.In order to research and solve above problems, we have achieved high efficiency and low droop effect nitride-based Micro-LED devices, even for amber/red emission with wavelength up to 630nm. Secondly, hybrid micro/nano-structured light-emitting diode (LED) integrated with III-nitride/quantum dots(QDs) has been developed. The 3D monolithic ultra-high-resolution Micro-LED displays driven by large-area CVD MoS2 thin-film transistors(TFTs) and prototypical 32×32 active-matrix (AM) displays at 1270 PPI resolution have beenrealized and demonstrated. In summary, these achieved materials and devices could give a promising way for comprehensive applications of high-resolution full-color display, transparent display, visible light communication and so on.

2023 will be a turbulent year, affected by geopolitics, inflation and other factors, economic recovery is hindered, and the global demand for consumer electronic products continues to be sluggish, and the display panel industry has also entered a low economic cycle, which will face huge operating challenges and loss pressure.
In this context, panel factories have started to cut production significantly. In addition, how should panel factories get out of the cold winter? Mainly from the case of Atmoph Window2 (a window type smart display that allows you to enjoy the scenery of the world) and some other product design cases, I will talk about making the concept and development process from the perspective of product design.

显示面板的尺寸正在同时往更大和更小的方向发展,存在多样化的显示形态,比如用于AR/VR的微尺寸显示,用于移动设备的高分辨率柔性显示,下一代OLED IT面板,以及超大尺寸的TV和商业显示。不管是哪种显示形态,激光都是确保生产制造的关键技术。在显示制造中,为了以高产出率完成更小和更精细的特征,同时避免对材料的物理损伤和过度加热,激光技术拥有无与伦比的能力和优势。Coherent可以提供显示制造中几乎所有类型的激光技术,此次报告我们会展示用于microLED、柔性/可折叠OLED、以及AR/VR全息光学元件制造的激光工艺。
Displays are getting larger – and smaller! But whatever the display type – from miniature wearable displays for AR/VR, to high resolution, flexible displays for mobile devices, to larger, next generation OLED IT panels, through even the biggest screens for TVs and signage – lasers are a key enabling manufacturing technology. This is because lasers have an unrivalled ability to yield smaller and more precise features at high throughput, and to work without physically damaging or overheating delicate parts. Coherent offers virtually every type of laser technology required for display fabrication. We will present laser processes that impact microLEDs, flexible and foldable OLEDs, and even writing/recording of HOEs for AR/VR.
