Chengdu, a significant gateway to the beauty industry market in western China, boasts a thriving cosmetics sector. With a market capacity nearing 40 billion yuan, it ranks third in China's cosmetics market. Sichuan Province, where Chengdu is the capital, leads in cosmetics production in the western region with 61 cosmetics manufacturing enterprises.

The province's population of 83.675 million includes nearly 23.6 million women aged 20-59, representing 28% of its total population. This demographic presents a substantial consumer base for the beauty industry.

Economically, Chengdu's GDP stands at USD 87.30 billion, marking a growth rate of 2.9%. The per capita disposable income is USD 4,719, showing an increase of 5.5%. The city is home to over 71,000 beauty stores and salons, along with 1,000 beauty training schools, contributing significantly to its economy.

Chengdu's strategic importance is further underscored by its extensive transportation network, which includes 111 international (regional) routes connecting major hubs across Asia, Europe, North America, Africa, and Oceania. It leads the Midwest region in this regard. Starting from January 2019, Chengdu implemented a 144-hour visa-free transit policy for travelers from 53 countries, including 25 Schengen countries in Europe, 14 other European countries, 6 American countries, and 6 Asian countries.

With 437 medical beauty institutions, Chengdu is second only to Beijing and Shanghai, earning it the title of one of China's "top 3 medical beauty cities." The city's population of 20.938 million and GDP of USD 320 billion place it fourth in the country's hair and beauty industry development index, following Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou.
